Delight in these crispy and golden Air Fryer Churro Donut Holes coated in cinnamon sugar and served with a rich, homemade caramel sauce for dipping or drizzling. This quick and easy recipe uses refrigerated biscuit dough air-fried to perfection, making it a perfect sweet treat ready in just 18 minutes.

Ingredients

Donut Holes

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (not flaky layers)
  • 2–3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1½ tsp ground cinnamon

Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough balls: Cut each biscuit in half and roll the pieces into small balls.
  2. Preheat and air fry: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil. Place the dough balls in the basket in a single layer. Air fry for 6–8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking, until the donut holes turn golden brown.
  3. Coat with cinnamon sugar: Mix the cinnamon and granulated sugar in a bowl. While the donut holes are still warm, brush them with melted butter and roll them in the cinnamon sugar until evenly coated.
  4. Make the caramel sauce: Combine brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream in a medium saucepan.
  5. Cook caramel sauce: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  6. Simmer and thicken: Allow it to boil for about 3–5 minutes while continuously stirring, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Finish the sauce: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt if desired.
  8. Cool the sauce: Let the caramel sauce cool a bit; it will thicken further as it cools.
  9. Serve: Warm the caramel sauce before serving. Offer it on the side for dipping or drizzle it directly over the churro donut holes.

Notes

  • Refrigerated biscuit dough simplifies preparation, but avoid using flaky layers to maintain proper texture.
  • Lightly spraying the air fryer basket helps prevent sticking and ensures even browning.
  • Shaking the basket halfway through cooking promotes uniform crispiness.
  • If the caramel sauce thickens too much after cooling, gently rewarm it before serving.
  • These donut holes are best enjoyed fresh for optimum texture and flavor.
