The dish offers a delicious smoky and spicy profile with minimal oil and is perfect for a high-protein, low-carb option.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1 pound Chicken Tenderloins
  • 1/2 Tablespoon (8g) Olive Oil

Blackened Seasoning

  • 2 teaspoons Chili Powder
  • 2 teaspoons Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Thyme

Instructions

  1. Prepare the seasoning: In a small bowl, mix together chili powder, onion powder, granulated garlic, kosher salt, black pepper, dried basil, dried oregano, and ground thyme until well combined.
  2. Season the chicken: Toss the chicken tenderloins with olive oil to coat evenly. Sprinkle the blackened seasoning over the chicken and toss again until the tenderloins are fully coated with the spice blend. Optionally, let the seasoned chicken rest at room temperature for 10-20 minutes to enhance the flavors.
  3. Cook in the air fryer: Place the seasoned chicken tenders in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 400ºF for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165ºF and the chicken is cooked through.
  4. Alternative baking method: You can also bake the chicken on a sheet pan at 400ºF for 15-18 minutes until fully cooked and reaching an internal temperature of 165ºF.

Notes

  • For crispier edges, flip the chicken halfway through cooking in the air fryer.
  • Adjust spices to your preferred heat level by adding cayenne pepper for extra kick.
  • Letting the chicken rest after seasoning improves flavor absorption.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked safely to 165ºF.
