Ingredients

Blueberry Butter Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup prepared blueberry sauce, cooled
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Morton kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Blueberry Sauce: Prepare the blueberry sauce according to your preferred recipe or use a pre-made version. Set aside ⅓ cup and allow it to cool completely before using it in the butter.
  2. Beat Butter and Milk: In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the softened unsalted butter and milk. Start beating on low speed just to incorporate the milk into the butter. Then increase the speed to medium-high and beat for 5 minutes, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl a couple of times. This process makes the butter light and fluffy.
  3. Add Powdered Sugar and Salt: Add the powdered sugar and a pinch of Morton kosher salt to the whipped butter mixture. Beat the mixture again on medium-high speed for 1 more minute to fully incorporate these ingredients and maintain the fluffy texture.
  4. Combine Blueberry Sauce and Vanilla: Add the cooled blueberry sauce and pure vanilla extract to the mixture. Beat on low speed just until everything is evenly combined. Be careful not to overmix to preserve the light texture.
  5. Serve or Store: Enjoy your blueberry butter immediately for the creamiest and fluffiest texture. Alternatively, store it in the refrigerator to enjoy later. Note that chilling will cause the butter to firm up, so remove it from the fridge 20 to 30 minutes before serving to allow it to soften to spreadable consistency.

Notes

  • Use softened unsalted butter at room temperature for the best whipping consistency.
  • Chilling the blueberry butter will firm it up; allow it to soften before use.
  • This spread pairs beautifully with toast, muffins, pancakes, or as a topping on scones.
  • You can adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of powdered sugar to your taste.
  • If you want a smoother texture, strain the blueberry sauce before adding it to the butter.
