This Burrata Baked Ravioli with Spinach is a comforting Italian-inspired casserole that layers cheese ravioli, a savory ground turkey and spinach marinara, and a generous topping of creamy burrata cheese. Baked until bubbly and golden, it's a perfect hearty meal for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Sauce and Meat Mixture

  • 32 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound ground turkey (or beef)
  • Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 ounces fresh spinach

Pasta and Cheese Layers

  • 24 ounces frozen cheese ravioli (or another variety)
  • 8 ounces grated mozzarella or Italian cheeses
  • 8 ounces burrata cheese, pulled apart

Toppings

  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese, for topping
  • Fresh parsley, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Reserve 1 cup of marinara sauce from the jar to use later.
  2. Cook the turkey mixture: Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add ground turkey with a big pinch of salt and pepper and cook until browned, breaking it apart into small crumbles. Once browned, stir in the remaining marinara sauce and bring to a warm, bubbling state.
  3. Add spinach: Stir fresh spinach into the turkey marinara mixture and cook for a few minutes until the spinach wilts. Turn off the heat.
  4. Assemble the layers: Spread ½ cup of the reserved marinara on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Add one-third of the ravioli in a single layer. Top with one-third of the turkey and spinach mixture, then sprinkle with some grated cheese. Repeat layering two more times, finishing with the final layer of ravioli, turkey mixture, and cheese.
  5. Add finishing touches: Pour the remaining reserved marinara over the top of the last layer. Sprinkle any extra grated cheese on top. Spread pulled-apart burrata cheese evenly over the entire dish.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes until the dish is golden, bubbly, and the cheese is melted and slightly browned.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven and top with freshly grated parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey with ground beef or Italian sausage if preferred.
  • Frozen ravioli can be swapped for fresh ravioli to enhance taste and texture.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit the meat and add mushrooms or other vegetables.
  • Allow the dish to rest 5 minutes after baking to set before serving.
  • Use a 9x13 inch baking dish for best layering and cooking results.
