A soothing and energizing Chai Matcha Latte combining the warm spices of chai tea with the vibrant earthiness of matcha. This creamy latte is sweetened naturally with maple syrup and can be made with any milk of your choice, offering a comforting beverage perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Chai Latte Base

  • 1 chai teabag
  • 1 cup milk of your preference
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup

Matcha Topping

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • ¼ cup 160°F water

Instructions

  1. Heat the Chai Latte: Add the chai teabag and milk to a small pan. Gently simmer the mixture on the hob for 4 to 5 minutes, allowing the chai spices to infuse the milk thoroughly.
  2. Sweeten the Latte: Remove and discard the chai teabag. Stir in the maple syrup to sweeten the chai latte evenly.
  3. Prepare Matcha Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk the matcha powder with ¼ cup of 160°F water using a matcha whisk or milk frother in a 'Z' pattern until the matcha is fully dissolved and frothy.
  4. Assemble the Latte: Pour the chai tea mixture into a glass or mug. Gently top with the frothy matcha layer.
  5. Serve: Enjoy your Chai Matcha Latte hot for the best flavor and aroma.

Notes

  • Use your preferred milk—dairy or plant-based—to suit dietary needs or taste.
  • Maintain the water temperature at around 160°F for optimal matcha whisking without bitterness.
  • Adjust maple syrup quantity for desired sweetness.
  • Use a proper matcha whisk (chasen) or milk frother to achieve a smooth, frothy texture.
