Ingredients

White Cake Layer:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup butter, melted

Cinnamon Layer:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Glaze:

  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare the pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan to ensure the cake doesn't stick.
  2. Mix the white cake batter: In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, 1 ½ cups milk, 1 cup white sugar, 2 large eggs, 4 teaspoons baking powder, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and ¼ teaspoon salt. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated, then stir in ¼ cup melted butter to form a smooth batter.
  3. Pour batter into pan: Pour the prepared white cake batter evenly into the greased 9x13-inch pan, spreading it out smoothly.
  4. Prepare the cinnamon layer: In another large bowl, beat together 1 cup softened butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  5. Add cinnamon layer onto batter: Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon mixture evenly over the cake batter in the pan to create pockets of cinnamon sugar.
  6. Create marble swirl: Using a knife, gently swirl the cinnamon layer into the white cake batter to create a marbled effect without fully blending the layers.
  7. Bake the cake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out nearly clean, indicating the cake is cooked through.
  8. Prepare the glaze: While the cake is baking, mix 2 cups confectioners' sugar, 5 tablespoons milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract in a large bowl until the glaze is smooth and pourable.
  9. Glaze and serve: Once the cake has cooled slightly but is still warm, drizzle the vanilla glaze evenly over the top. Slice and enjoy your warm cinnamon roll cake!

Notes

  • Ensure the butter for the cinnamon layer is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • You can adjust the amount of cinnamon in the cinnamon layer to suit your taste.
  • For a richer glaze, add a tablespoon of cream cheese or powdered butter flavoring.
  • Let the cake cool slightly before glazing to avoid the glaze melting too much.
  • Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
