Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz. Package Cream Cheese
  • 1 10 oz. Package Frozen Chopped Spinach (1.5 cups squeezed, thawed)
  • 1 ½ Cup Sour Cream
  • 2 Medium Tomatoes (1 cup, small diced)
  • 2 Scallions (1/3 cup, chopped)

Spices and Seasonings

  • ½ Tsp. Onion Powder
  • ½ Tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • ¼ Tsp. Garlic Powder
  • ½ Tsp. Salt (or to taste)
  • ¾ Tsp. Pepper

Instructions

  1. Thaw and drain spinach: Thaw the frozen chopped spinach completely and squeeze out all excess water using a towel or paper towels to avoid a watery dip. You can quickly defrost it in the microwave if needed.
  2. Mix main ingredients: In a mixer, combine the well-drained spinach with cream cheese, sour cream, scallions, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated into a smooth, creamy mixture.
  3. Add tomatoes: Gently fold in the small diced tomatoes on low mixer speed, mixing just enough to distribute the tomatoes while maintaining their shape.
  4. Chill the dip: Refrigerate the spinach dip for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight to let the flavors meld and the dip to chill properly before serving.
  5. Prepare serving bowl: If using a bread bowl, cut off the top of the loaf and scoop out the interior to create a bowl for the dip.
  6. Serve: Transfer the chilled dip into your chosen serving bowl or bread bowl. Serve cold alongside fresh vegetables, crackers, pita bread, or your favorite dipping snacks.

Notes

  • Ensure to squeeze out all excess water from the spinach to prevent a watery dip.
  • You can prepare the dip a day ahead to enhance the flavors.
  • Adjust salt and pepper according to your taste preference.
  • If you prefer a chunkier texture, add tomatoes last and stir gently by hand instead of mixing.
  • This dip is best served chilled for optimal flavor and texture.
  • Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a tangier, lower-fat option.
