A refreshing and creamy twist on the classic mojito, this Creamy Blackberry Mojito features fresh blackberries, mint, and a rich cream of coconut, balanced with lime juice and sparkling soda water. Perfect for a quick, tropical-inspired cocktail that combines sweetness, citrus, and herbal notes in just minutes.

Ingredients

For the Drink

  • 8 fresh mint leaves
  • 5 blackberries
  • 1 1/2 ounces white rum (or coconut rum)
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 ounces cream of coconut (¼ cup)
  • Ice
  • Soda water (for topping)

For the Sugar Lime Rim

  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Pinch of kosher salt

For Garnish

  • Mint sprigs
  • Lime wheels
  • Blackberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sugar lime rim: Combine the lime zest, sugar, and a pinch of kosher salt on a shallow plate. Run a lime wedge around the rims of the glasses to moisten them, then dip each glass into the sugar mixture to coat the rim. Fill the glasses with ice and set aside.
  2. Muddle mint and blackberries: In a cocktail shaker, lightly muddle together the fresh mint leaves and blackberries to release their flavors without pulverizing completely.
  3. Shake the cocktail: Add the white rum (or coconut rum), freshly squeezed lime juice, cream of coconut, and ice into the shaker. Shake vigorously until well combined and chilled.
  4. Strain and top: Strain the cocktail mixture into the prepared, rimmed glass filled with ice. Top off with soda water to add a refreshing fizz.
  5. Garnish and serve: Garnish the drink with a fresh mint sprig, a blackberry, and a lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately for the best flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • You can substitute white rum with coconut rum for added tropical flavor.
  • Adjust the sugar amount in the rim to your preferred sweetness level.
  • Light muddling ensures the mint doesn’t turn bitter.
  • If cream of coconut is unavailable, use coconut cream with a bit of added sugar as a substitute.
  • Use fresh blackberries for the best taste; frozen blackberries may add too much extra liquid.
