This homemade granola recipe is a wholesome and crunchy mix of oats, nuts, and seeds sweetened with honey and gently baked to perfection. It offers a deliciously nutty flavor profile with a hint of saltiness from fleur de sel, making it a perfect breakfast or snack option that can be customized with your favorite nuts and seeds.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 400g Rolled oats (whole grain)
  • 150g Nuts and seeds (almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, flax, chia, sunflowers, sesame, etc.)
  • 1 tsp fleur de sel

Wet Ingredients

  • 130g Vegetable oil (coconut oil, grapeseed oil, hazelnut oil, etc.)
  • 130g Honey (or maple syrup)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F) and line a baking tray or rectangular dish with baking paper to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large container, mix the rolled oat flakes with your choice of whole or crushed nuts and seeds thoroughly.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Incorporate the vegetable oil, honey (or maple syrup), and fleur de sel into the dry mixture. Stir well using a wooden spoon to evenly coat the oats and nuts with the sweet and oily mixture.
  4. Spread Mixture: Pour the granola mixture into the prepared baking tray and spread it evenly over the entire surface to facilitate uniform baking.
  5. Bake and Stir: Place the tray in the oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes. Halfway through baking, remove the tray and stir the granola to promote even browning and prevent burning on one side.
  6. Cool and Store: Once baked to a golden brown, remove the granola from the oven and allow it to cool completely on the tray. After cooling, transfer the granola to a large jar with a lid to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free oats if you need a gluten-free version.
  • Customize the nuts and seeds according to your preference or what you have on hand.
  • For a vegan option, use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • Make sure to stir the granola halfway through baking to prevent uneven cooking or burning.
  • Once cooled, granola can be stored for up to two weeks in an airtight container.
  • Add dried fruits after baking to prevent them from burning in the oven.
