This Honey-Garlic Glazed Salmon recipe offers a quick and flavorful way to enjoy tender, seared salmon fillets coated in a sweet and tangy honey-garlic sauce. Perfectly balanced with a hint of spice from crushed red pepper flakes and brightened by fresh lemon, this dish is ideal for a nutritious weeknight dinner ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

For the Glaze

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

For the Salmon

  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, patted dry with paper towels
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced into rounds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a medium bowl, vigorously whisk together the honey, reduced-sodium soy sauce, fresh lemon juice, and crushed red pepper flakes until well combined to create a sweet and spicy sauce.
  2. Sear the salmon: Heat 2 tablespoons of the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking. Place the salmon fillets skin side up in the skillet. Season lightly with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes until the flesh side is just heated through and has a nice sear.
  3. Flip and add aromatics: Carefully flip the salmon so it is skin side down. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan, then add the minced garlic. Cook the garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant to infuse the oil and salmon with aromatic flavor.
  4. Glaze the salmon: Pour the prepared honey mixture and lemon slices into the skillet. Continuously baste the salmon with the sauce and cook until the glaze thickens and reduces by about one-third, approximately 3 more minutes. The salmon should be fully cooked, flaky, and coated in a glossy honey-garlic glaze.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh salmon fillets with skin on to achieve a crispy skin texture.
  • Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper flakes based on your preferred spice level.
  • Be careful not to overcook the salmon; it should remain moist and flaky.
  • Leftover glazed salmon can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
