This Honey Sriracha Tofu recipe features crispy pan-fried tofu cubes coated in a deliciously sticky and spicy-sweet honey sriracha glaze. Perfect for a quick and flavorful vegan-friendly meal, it combines the heat of sriracha with the sweetness of honey and the umami depth of soy sauce, topped with fresh green onions for a bright finish.

Ingredients

Tofu

  • 14 oz. extra firm tofu

Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp sriracha
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp soy sauce, divided
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper

Coating and Cooking

  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu: Press the tofu for 30 minutes to remove excess moisture by placing it on a rimmed plate with a flat object and a heavy weight on top, then pour off the liquid.
  2. Make the honey sriracha sauce: In a small bowl, combine sriracha, honey, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, and crushed red pepper; set aside.
  3. Prepare the tofu cubes: Cut pressed tofu into ½-inch cubes and pat dry with paper towels.
  4. Coat the tofu: In a large bowl, whisk cooking oil with 1 teaspoon soy sauce, add tofu cubes, and gently stir to coat.
  5. Add cornstarch: Sprinkle 1 teaspoon cornstarch over the tofu and stir gently; repeat this two more times until a total of 1 tablespoon cornstarch is used to coat the tofu evenly.
  6. Fry the tofu: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the tofu coated with oil and cornstarch and cook, stirring occasionally, until brown and crispy on all sides, about 10 minutes.
  7. Glaze the tofu: Pour the honey sriracha sauce over the tofu and continue cooking and stirring for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky.
  8. Serve: Top with sliced green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Pressing the tofu well is key for a crispy texture.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha and crushed red pepper to control spiciness.
  • Use a non-stick skillet to prevent sticking and facilitate easy frying.
  • Serve with steamed rice or vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Honey can be substituted with maple syrup for a vegan version.
