This Instant Pot Frittata is a quick and versatile egg-based dish, perfect for any meal of the day. Light, fluffy, and packed with your choice of fillings, it’s cooked gently by pressure in the Instant Pot for a moist and tender texture. Easy to prepare and full of flavor, this frittata makes a nutritious breakfast, brunch, or light dinner option.

Ingredients

Egg Mixture

  • 6 large eggs
  • ⅓ cup cream or milk
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon grated nutmeg

Fillings

  • 1 ½ cup fillings of choice (such as sautéed vegetables, cooked meats, cheese, or herbs)

Other

  • Cooking spray or butter (for greasing pan)
  • 2 cups cold water (for Instant Pot)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan: Spray a 7x4 inch oven-safe pan thoroughly with cooking spray or grease it well with butter to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 6 large eggs, ⅓ cup cream or milk, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, ⅛ teaspoon pepper, and ⅛ teaspoon grated nutmeg until completely blended. Fold in your choice of up to 1 ½ cups of fillings, mixing gently to combine evenly.
  3. Assemble in Pan: Pour the egg and filling mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil to prevent condensation from dripping onto the frittata during cooking.
  4. Prepare Instant Pot: Pour 2 cups of cold water into the Instant Pot inner pot. Place the cooking rack inside, then carefully set the baking dish on top of the rack.
  5. Pressure Cook: Seal the Instant Pot lid with the vent knob in the sealed position. Set to High Pressure (Manual or Pressure Cook mode) and cook for 6 minutes.
  6. Pressure Release: When the cooking cycle completes, allow the Instant Pot to release pressure naturally for 10 minutes. Afterward, perform a quick release to vent any remaining pressure safely.
  7. Serve: Carefully remove the baking dish from the Instant Pot. Serve the frittata warm or at room temperature as desired.

Notes

  • You can customize the fillings with a variety of vegetables, meats, and cheeses according to your preference.
  • Make sure the baking dish fits comfortably inside your Instant Pot on the cooking rack before starting.
  • To check doneness, insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
  • Use tempered glass or metal oven-safe dishes that can withstand Instant Pot pressure cooking.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
