Irish Coffee is a classic warm cocktail combining freshly brewed coffee with smooth Irish whiskey, a touch of sweetness, and a creamy whipped cream topping. This simple yet indulgent drink is perfect for cozy evenings or as a delightful after-dinner treat.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 6 oz freshly brewed coffee
  • 1 1/2 oz Irish whiskey
  • 1 teaspoon coconut sugar (or other sweetener)
  • Whipped cream, for topping

Instructions

  1. Pour the Coffee: Pour the hot coffee into a mug, filling it about two-thirds full to leave room for the whiskey and topping.
  2. Add Whiskey and Sweetener: Stir in 1 1/2 oz of Irish whiskey along with your choice of sweetener, such as 1 teaspoon of coconut sugar, ensuring it dissolves completely.
  3. Top with Whipped Cream: Gently spoon or slowly pour lightly whipped cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the coffee mixture, providing a smooth creamy layer. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute coconut sugar with regular sugar, brown sugar, or a sugar substitute to suit your preference.
  • For best results, use freshly brewed hot coffee to maintain the warmth of the drink.
  • Lightly whipped cream should be poured slowly to create the signature floating layer on top.
  • Adjust the amount of Irish whiskey to taste, but traditionally 1 1/2 oz is standard.
  • This recipe serves one but can be easily multiplied for more servings.
