These Mexican Pinwheels are a delightful appetizer perfect for parties and gatherings. Creamy and flavorful, they combine a zesty mixture of cream cheese, sour cream, salsa, and taco seasoning, layered with green chilies and Mexican cheese, all rolled up in soft flour tortillas. Chilled and sliced into bite-sized pinwheels, they make an easy-to-serve, visually appealing snack that pairs beautifully with extra salsa on the side.

Ingredients

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup salsa
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • Dash garlic powder
  • 1 (4-ounce) can chopped green chilies
  • 1 cup Mexican cheese, finely shredded

Other Ingredients

  • 8 (10-inch) flour tortillas
  • Salsa, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling mixture: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, salsa, taco seasoning, and a dash of garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well blended. Then add the chopped green chilies and finely shredded Mexican cheese, stirring until evenly incorporated.
  2. Spread the mixture on tortillas: Take each 10-inch flour tortilla and scoop approximately ½ to ¾ cup of the filling mixture onto it. Spread the mixture evenly over the surface of the tortilla, covering it completely but leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Roll and chill: Roll each tortilla tightly like a jelly roll. Place the rolled tortillas seam side down in a baking dish or tray. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the filling to set and flavors to meld.
  4. Slice and serve: After chilling, take the rolled tortillas out of the fridge and slice each one into 1-inch pieces to create pinwheels. Arrange the sliced pinwheels side by side on a serving platter so the colorful layers are visible. Serve cold with extra salsa on the side for dipping.
