Ingredients

Chicken & Seasonings

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite sized pieces)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper

Sauce & Cooking

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth

Vegetables & Garnish

  • 1 lb asparagus (trimmed)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian parsley (minced)
  • lemon slices (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Place the bite-sized chicken pieces into a medium bowl. Sprinkle with kosher salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and fresh ground pepper. Toss well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated with the spices.
  2. Melt butter and oil: Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add half of the butter (1/4 cup) and the olive oil, allowing the butter to melt gently without burning.
  3. Cook the chicken: Add the seasoned chicken to the skillet and cook, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown. Add 1 teaspoon of the minced garlic and Italian seasonings, cooking for about 30 seconds to release their aroma. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  4. Prepare the sauce: Increase the skillet heat to medium-high. Add the remaining 1 teaspoon minced garlic and sauté briefly. Pour in the chicken broth to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Stir in the remaining butter (1/4 cup), lemon juice, and sriracha, mixing well to combine the sauce.
  5. Cook the asparagus and reheat chicken: Add the trimmed asparagus to the skillet and cook until it reaches your desired tenderness, about 3-5 minutes. Then, return the cooked chicken to the pan and stir for another minute to reheat and blend flavors.
  6. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle the dish with minced Italian parsley and garnish with lemon slices if desired. Serve hot and enjoy your flavorful one-pan garlic butter chicken and asparagus.

Notes

  • Using kosher salt is preferred for seasoning as it provides better control over saltiness; adjust to taste if using table salt.
  • Be careful not to burn the butter when cooking chicken; keep the heat medium-low to medium.
  • Sriracha can be adjusted according to your preferred spice level or omitted if you want a milder dish.
  • Trim asparagus ends before cooking to ensure tenderness.
  • For extra flavor, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the dish just before serving.
