Ingredients

Coating

  • 1 cup red candy melts
  • 1 cup white candy melts
  • 1 cup blue candy melts
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

Additional

  • 8 ice cream cones
  • Assorted sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Glasses: Set aside 8 drinking glasses to upright the dipped cones as they dry and harden.
  2. Mix Candy Melts: Place each color of candy melts in separate microwave-safe bowls. Add 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil to each bowl to facilitate smooth melting.
  3. Microwave Candy Melts: Microwave each bowl individually for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue microwaving in 15 to 30 second intervals until the mixtures are smooth and fully melted.
  4. Dip and Decorate: Working quickly, dip each ice cream cone into the candy melts. Immediately sprinkle with assorted sprinkles before the candy coating hardens.
  5. Dry and Harden: Stand the decorated cones upright in the prepared glasses with the pointed side down. Let them set at room temperature or refrigerate until the candy melts are fully hardened.

Notes

  • If candy melts are too thick after melting, thin by adding additional vegetable oil 1 teaspoon at a time to reach a suitable dipping consistency.
  • To ensure vibrant color coverage, work swiftly when dipping and decorating before the candy melts start to harden.
  • These cones can be stored in the refrigerator if not served immediately to maintain the candy coating’s firmness.
