Salted Caramel Puppy Chow Snack Mix combines crunchy corn Chex cereal with a luscious blend of melted milk chocolate and salted caramel topping, all dusted with powdered sugar and studded with caramel-filled chocolate morsels for an irresistible sweet and salty treat.

Ingredients

Chocolate and Caramel Mixture

  • 8 oz. milk chocolate chips (227g, semi-sweet or dark also work)
  • 11.5 oz. Smuckers Simple Delights Salted Caramel Ice Cream Topping (326g, 1 jar)

Dry Ingredients

  • 18 oz. corn Chex cereal (510g, 1 box)
  • 1-2 cups powdered sugar (113-226g)

Add-ins

  • ½ cup Toll House DelightFulls Milk Chocolate Morsels with Caramel Filling

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate: Place the milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until fully melted and smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Melt Caramel: Microwave the salted caramel ice cream topping for 45-60 seconds until warm and pourable. Combine with the melted chocolate and stir well to create a uniform caramel chocolate mixture.
  3. Coat Cereal: In a large mixing bowl, pour the caramel chocolate mixture over the corn Chex cereal. Stir thoroughly until every piece of cereal is evenly coated with the mixture.
  4. Powder Sugar Toss: Divide the coated cereal evenly into two large Ziplock bags. Add half of the powdered sugar into each bag, seal tightly, and toss vigorously until the cereal pieces are fully coated in powdered sugar.
  5. Combine and Add Morsels: Pour the powdered sugar-coated cereal into a large serving bowl. Gently stir in the Toll House DelightFulls Milk Chocolate Morsels with Caramel Filling, if using, to evenly distribute the morsels throughout the mix.

Notes

  • You can substitute semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips for milk chocolate for a richer flavor.
  • If you don’t have salted caramel topping, regular caramel syrup can be used instead.
  • Toll House DelightFulls are optional but add a delightful surprise of caramel inside chocolate morsels.
  • Adjust the powdered sugar quantity to your preferred sweetness and coating thickness.
