This Sriracha Lime Hummus is a quick and flavorful twist on traditional hummus, combining the creamy texture of chickpeas with the spicy kick of Sriracha and the zesty brightness of fresh lime juice. Perfect as a dip, spread, or snack, it’s ready in just minutes using a blender or food processor.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup (48 grams) Sriracha
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) olive oil
  • 3 large cloves garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 2-4 tablespoons (30-60 ml) water, as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly to remove excess liquid and reduce any canned taste. Peel the garlic cloves and measure out the fresh lime juice, Sriracha, olive oil, sea salt, and paprika.
  2. Blend Base Ingredients: Add the chickpeas, Sriracha, lime juice, olive oil, garlic cloves, sea salt, and paprika to a food processor or high-powered blender such as a Blendtec, Vitamix, or Ninja. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides to ensure even blending.
  3. Adjust Consistency: Gradually add water one tablespoon at a time while continuing to blend until your desired hummus consistency is achieved. Note that high-powered blenders may require slightly more water than food processors to reach a creamy texture.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and garnish with optional toppings like sesame seeds, chopped cilantro, or an additional drizzle of olive oil for extra flavor and presentation.
  5. Store Properly: Serve immediately for the freshest taste, or store the hummus in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep well for up to 4 days.

Notes

  • For a milder version, reduce the amount of Sriracha to suit your spice preference.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best bright and tangy flavor.
  • Adjust water quantity based on the power of your blender and preferred hummus thickness.
  • Garnishes like toasted sesame seeds or fresh herbs complement the spicy and citrusy notes well.
  • This hummus recipe is naturally gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan.
