This Strawberry Banana Smoothie is a quick, nutritious, and delicious blend perfect for breakfast or a healthy snack. Combining fresh or frozen strawberries and bananas with low-fat milk, protein powder, and flaxseed, this smoothie offers a balanced mix of protein, fiber, and essential nutrients. It’s easily customizable with optional add-ins like peanut butter, baby spinach, or Greek yogurt for extra flavor and nutrition.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • ¾ cup low-fat milk (such as Fairlife or protein dairy-free milk of choice)
  • 1 medium banana (fresh or frozen, the riper the better)
  • ¾ cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)

Protein and Flavor Enhancers

  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  • ¼ cup unflavored whey protein powder (or pea protein, or a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Additional Ingredients

  • ¾ cup ice
  • 1 teaspoon monk fruit sweetener (or optional sweetener of choice, to taste)

Optional Add-ins

  • Peanut butter
  • Baby spinach
  • Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all your ingredients including the frozen or fresh strawberries and bananas, milk, protein powder, ground flaxseed, vanilla extract if using, ice, and sweetener. Optional add-ins like peanut butter, baby spinach, or Greek yogurt can be prepared if desired.
  2. Combine in Blender: Place the low-fat milk, banana, strawberries, ground flaxseed, protein powder, vanilla extract, ice, and monk fruit sweetener into your blender. Add any optional ingredients at this time if you wish.
  3. Blend until Smooth: Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, with no chunks of fruit or ice remaining. This usually takes about 30 to 60 seconds depending on your blender.
  4. Serve Immediately: Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately for the best texture and freshness.

Notes

  • You can substitute protein sources based on dietary preferences such as plant-based or dairy options.
  • Frozen fruits make the smoothie colder and thicker; fresh fruit can be used but may require additional ice.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less monk fruit sweetener or your preferred sweetener.
  • Optional add-ins like spinach increase nutritional value without altering flavor significantly.
  • For a dairy-free version, use a plant-based milk like almond, soy, or oat milk.
