A delightful and easy-to-make Triple Berry Trifle featuring layers of angel food cake, fresh berries, and fluffy whipped cream. This no-bake dessert is perfect for any occasion, combining sweet, tart, and creamy flavors in a visually stunning presentation.

Ingredients

Angel Food Cake

  • 1 Angel Food Cake, cut into chunks (homemade or store-bought)

Whipped Cream

  • 1 - 16 ounce container of Cool Whip (or homemade whipping cream)

Berries

  • 1 large package of blackberries
  • 1 large package of raspberries
  • 1 package of strawberries, cut into bite-sized pieces

Homemade Whipped Cream (optional)

  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cake: If baking your own angel food cake, bake it the night before, allow it to invert and cool overnight. Once cooled, cut the cake into chunks and set aside.
  2. Prepare Berries: Wash all berries thoroughly and dry them on a paper towel. Cut strawberries into bite-sized pieces for easier layering and serving.
  3. Prepare Whipped Cream: Defrost the Cool Whip if using store-bought, or prepare your own homemade whipped cream by whipping heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  4. Assemble Trifle: In a large trifle bowl or glass dish, layer the angel food cake chunks at the bottom. Add a layer of mixed berries, followed by a layer of whipped cream. Repeat the layering process until the bowl is filled, finishing with a generous mound of berries and whipped cream on top.
  5. Chill: Refrigerate the assembled trifle for at least an hour or until ready to serve; this helps the flavors meld together.

Notes

  • This dessert is highly flexible; feel free to adjust berry types and quantities according to your preference.
  • Raspberries tend to be softer, so layering them carefully will help maintain texture.
  • For homemade whipped cream, make sure to whip until stiff peaks form to achieve the right consistency.
  • Angel food cake can be replaced with sponge cake if desired.
  • The trifle is best served chilled, so plan assembly ahead of time.
